Drawing & Painting

This would be an introductory course on all things drawing and painting. Pencil sketches versus charcoal drawings, acrylic versus watercolor, the 2D design possibilities are endless! We will examine the differences in these types of mediums, paper quality, styles and techniques, important 2D artists and painters, and how these subjects can better our own style and push us to grow as drawers and painters! A great class for students who are brand new to high-school level Art, or are still unsure of themselves and their skills but are eager to learn, explore their creative mind, and expand their knowledge to further themselves as budding artists!

Watercolor

A course designed to focus on all things watercolor. Students will have an opportunity to try out several watercolor brands and watercolor papers to select their preferred method for their projects. This class will start as an introductory course to the medium and how it differs from other paints, like acrylic and oil. As the semester progresses, I hope to assign some more challenging projects designed to push the student’s limits and give them a deeper experience with the medium. If there's time at the end of the course, we will also explore the differences between gouache and watercolor, and how these mediums are similar in so many ways but can make a huge difference in your project’s outcome.

Advanced Art

This is a course specifically designed to challenge those who have already developed their art-making skills and feel comfortable creating using multiple styles, techniques, and mediums. This course will push students to think outside the box, and develop a creative process that challenges them and encourages them to broaden their skill levels even further. Both 2D & 3D design aspects will be incorporated into our projects throughout the year, and while the goal is always to explore creativity in a fun, stress-free environment, be prepared for this class to test your skills!
