We are a K-12th Grade accredited school with an emphasis on project-based learning!

K-6th Grade

Our highly qualified teachers follow the Arizona State Standards and Gifted/Advanced curriculum and incorporate the Arts into every lesson. Lumos elementary students experience learning with specialized classes based on the learning styles of each child.

Student learning targets are assessed using various methods instead of the traditional pencil and paper test. Our teachers use multiple methods to explore learning through Fine Arts. Students participate in PE, Art, and Music multiple times per week.

Flexible seating in our classrooms allows each child unique seating options that match their learning style.  We also use benchmarks and assessments to inform data-driven decisions, such as providing differentiated support to all Lumos Arts Academy students.

Secondary Students

Highly qualified teachers instruct English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, and Social Studies courses in a classroom setting. Our teachers follow the Arizona State Standards and Gifted/Advanced curriculum, incorporate the Arts and integrate project-based learning whenever possible.

Classes are formed around research-based, content-specific best practices implemented by highly effective teachers.

Secondary Students learn values through the mentor program that prepares them to accept responsibility and empathy to acquire essential real-world skills.

We also provide benchmarks and assessments to inform data-driven decisions that help us provide differentiated support for all students attending Lumos Arts Academy.

There is no daily homework or required state standardized testing.

Differentiation and Multiple Intelligences

Students vary in background knowledge, readiness for skills, learning styles, and interests, which ultimately affects how they acquire and retain information. Differentiated Instruction is a teaching and learning approach that enables a diverse population of learners to access the curriculum. Lumos Arts Academy teachers will provide students with multiple ways to acquire knowledge and skills by considering prior knowledge, readiness level, interests, and preferred learning modes to develop lessons and supplemental materials. Through differentiation, each student’s individual needs are met, which maximizes the potential for growth and success.

Exceptional Student Services (ESS/Special Education)

Lumos Arts Academy maintains high expectations for all students, including those with identified special needs, and will ensure all receive an appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. Read more on our ESS page.
